A round table to discuss the program of the all-Ukrainian population census

    On 19 of April 2012 in the Great Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (vul. Volodymyrska, 55), a round table discussion on the draft program of the all-Ukrainian population census, organized by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine with technical and financial support from UNFPA in Ukraine took place.

    The round table was attended by representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, experts of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, other ministries and agencies, international organizations, leading scientists of Ukraine, NGOs and others.

    During the discussions issues concerning the implementation of a set of measures for the preparation and conduct of the all-Ukrainian population census, working out and the content of the future census program, the use of lists of ethnic groups (nationalities) and languages for the development of the all-Ukrainian population census data were addressed.

    The draft program of the future all-Ukrainian population census, developed by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has been tested in December 2010 during a trial census in Dergachivskiy district of Kharkov oblast. The project is examined and approved by the legislative and executive authorities, academic institutions and other potential users of the data.

    By the results of the roundtable discussion the participants in general approved the presented draft program of the future all-Ukrainian population census.
