According to paragraph 1¹ of Chapter VI of the Law of Ukraine "On the All-Ukrainian population census", during the period of martial law in Ukraine and within six months after its termination or cancellation, the population census shall not be conducted.

   A population census is defined as a measure which permits in regular time intervals to carry out an official account of the number of the population which lives on a country’s territory as a whole and on all levels of administrative-territorial structure. Data of a census are necessary for forecasting and management of socio-economic development of a country, realization of demographic policy, budget planning and other purposes.
